The Rotary Club of Montreal celebrated its Annual Award Luncheon 2012

The Rotary Club of Montreal, which will recognize its 100th anniversary in 2013, was honored to host its Annual Award Luncheon this past Tuesday, 24 April, at Montreal’s prestigious St. James Club.  During the lunch, The Honorable Gérald Tremblay, Mayor of Montreal, was awarded the Rotary’s Paul Harris Medal for his support of the humanitarian and educational objectives of the Rotary Foundation.

In addition, long-time Montreal member Drew Webster received the Rotary Club of Montreal Rotarian of the Century Award.

Finally, the Velan Foundation Award, which carries an honorarium of $20,000, was presented to André Franche and Céline Tremblay of Les Ailes de l'Espérance, a Montreal-based charity that builds wells in Peru (www.ailesdelesperance.org) to address the fact that 70% of villages in remote Peru don’t have access to fresh water – arguably the most fundamental human need.
